After installing anti-spyware, I get this message when I
log on. c:\windows\system32\browseui.dll has been
allowed. I don't know what it means.

What's non-default about your Internet Explorer settings? Do you have a
non-default search engine, for example?

I've heard reports of this message associated with some non-default choices,
and I'd like to see if we can spot what makes it happen on your system.

I'm sure after I installed MAS, it told me my settings
had been changed and would I like to reset to default,so
I did. If you can give me anything in particular to look
for I'd be glad to. I guess it's not a big deal, but my
wife's non-tech, and these big green flags jumping up
freak her out and she logs off and doesn't want to use
the PC anymore, that's not such a bad thing either :)

One message I've seen associates this with having Google set as the search
which comes up when you hit the search button.

I tried to replicate this report, and failed.

I went to this URL:

http://www.google.com/options/defaults.html

and picked up this .reg file:

http://www.google.com/google.reg

and double clicked on it.

This made Google my search in IE, but it didn't give me any flags or
warnings, so I couldn't replicate.

Does "having Google as your default search" seem to bear any resemblance to
your issue?

What version of Windows? and is it Pro or Home? Do you and your wife use
separate logins? are you both administrators?

Yep, Google searches from the search box, and msn
searches from the address bar. When I had the choice
after running MAS it gave me the choice for the IE
address choices of myisp.com, and myisp.com.html
something. I chose the myisp.com
I hope that made some sence. If new how to go back to the
one that won't make the pop-up's I would. I've checked
the MAS for some thing but I guess what I did set the
defaults. Could'nt find anything in IE................

There are defaults set within Microsoft Antispyware at: Tools, advanced
tools, browser hijack settings restore. Check those over--they might help.

Consider running the .REG file that I mentioned--since that sets Google as
the button search for me with no error messages, maybe it will fix it for
you?

At the restore page you mentioned, both columns have the
exact same info, line for line. You know the current
settings and restore to settings.

I went to my internet options in IE, under Programs tab
and reset web settings, it didn't change any of my
settings, BUT the flags from MAS quit jumping up ???
Oh yah, I'm using XP Home, forgot to tell you before. Do
you know if Microsoft has or will have an anti-virus
program, I just can't do Norton anymore, I'm goint to
switch to AVG if Microsoft doesn't have one. THANKS.....

I'm glad that worked, but I don't know why it did. It is quite possible,
given what I've been reading in the press, that there have been changes to
the functionality of this feature with build .509.

I recommend AVG. Except for some occasional issues with updating, and some
of their default settings which I see as advertising and not helping secure
the user, particularly, I like the product and use it on machines for which
their free version licensing is appropriate.

Judging from the announcements at the RSA conference, Microsoft will have an
application later this year which will incorporate antivirus functionality.
I don't know what will differentiate it from the herd, but I suspect it will
be different, and am waiting with 'bated breath.

It kind of does it when it feels like it. Only once
since last post. It's kinda like a house pet now I think
we'll name it or something "where's MAS". :)

This is a good sign--we need a little affection around this product--balance
off some of the negative vibes associated with some other pieces of it.
