I've just bought a 2nd hand zip external zip drive from a friend and it's pretty old.

I've downloaded the latest drivers for it but the problem is that when I plug the cable of the zip drive into my parallel port my PC doesn't recognize that a new piece of hardware has been plugged in.

The cable is a parallel port with scsi adapers on each end.

Could it be that I need a scsi adapter card ......... or maybe I'm plugging it into the wrong socket. i.e. the same port as the printer port.

Or can I get rid of the scsi cable altogether and get a cable with a scsi adapter on one end and a USB adpater on the other end??

Any help would be much appreciated.

No, you're going to need a SCSI card ... now while they are cheap enough you're realy going to have to find out which one ... there a several different SCSI on the market.

Thank your friend, but keep looking over you shoulder when he's around. :D

You can pick up a 128Mb USB 'flash drive' for around £15 and that'll work with almost all PCs (95excl) . ;)
