I've been asking about the XP windows explorer function lagging for a while
now and we belive we have located the source of the issue.

For Future Referance of everyone else who has this issue.

Under folder options is a setting called Automatically search for network
folders and printers. Uncheck this and blamo, worked for us.

Well, here we go again. My XP does not have a Folder
Options under Tools. However there is an Internet options.
Could this be it ? If so, I'm still unable to find that
specificly named listing. Maybe it's just one of those
things "everybody" knows ?
It's not what you say, but what you do'nt say.

He said explorer, not Internet Explorer.
If your seeing Internet Options, your in IE.
Open any folder, go to tools and you will see it there.

Sorry people, but I've looked at every folder on my
computer and cannot find a single one named "any". Come
to think of it there is no key on my keyboard with a name
even similar to "any".
It's not what you say, but what you do'nt say.

.
To Gene K. Thank you,for answering in a straight
foreward manner. It is refreshing to see an answer that a
newbie can understand.
Some of those other people giving answers should take a
page out of your book and do the same.
Yes, the name of this newsgroup is Basic and they would
do well to remember that when giving their answers and or
opinions.Knowledge comes from learning and from teaching
and none of us were born with everything we now know.
For some, the smarter they become, the more they look down
their noses at those not so knowledgable. This newsgroup
does have its full share of idiot savants.
