Wallpaper on monitor and no icons/taskbar/etc.

I installed SP2 and when the PC rebooted, all I got was the XP wallpaper. I
had no icons on screen and no taskbar. I ended up reverting my hard drive
(through Norton GoBack) to an hour earlier, before I installed SP2. I am
afraid to install SP2 again for fear that I will have the same problem.

Help.

I had the identical problem. To resolve this situation is to disable your
anti-virus program and boot in Safe Mode and it will work fine. After the
SP2 installs use Ctrl+Alt+Del and click Shutdown. Wait about 10 seconds
and reboot and it will run fine. To boot in Safe Mode, just start pressing F8
when you power up the PC, or
