Volume Shadow Copy Error

I Receive:

"Error returned while creating the volume shadow
copy:8004230f
Reverting to non-shadow copy backup mode."

when trying to backup my Hard Drive and System State
files. Both source and target drives are NTFS formatted
hard drives. Do you know what's happening or where I
could look to find out what the 8004230f error code is,
and more importantly how to correct it?

I also get similar error. "Volume Shadow Copy Service
error: Unexpected error calling routine
CoCreateInstance. hr = 0x80040206." What is the problem?

I'm having the same problem now (just within the last
week or two), after doing dozens of successful ASR
backups. I have searched the knowledge base but so far
come up with nothing.

Just found this posted by a news groupie: "Event IDs
1000, 8193, or 4609 in the Windows XP Application Event
Log" (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=kb;en-us;823772).

Be aware that MS tech sup advises that reinstall may NOT
be necessary, as advised by this knowledge base article
(#823772)!

I am about to try a repair as outlined in the article.
