Vista won't let me install HP Printer

I'm trying to install my printer software, so I can scan a document. I have
an HP psc 1350 printer that used to scan fine with xp. Anyway, when I try
to install the software, I get the message in quotes below. I am the
administrator, I am logged on as administrator, this is my own computer in
my own home, and I can't do a simple scan. Before I start up on a new Vista
rant, does someone know what I need to do to get past this error message.

Thanks,

Jack

Have you checked with HP to see if it's Vista compatible?

Sometimes you need to install device drivers before connecting the printer.
You might also need to check HPs website for information about printer
whether it is compatible with Vista or you might need to get updated
drivers.

Thanks - good tip - Sometimes I get so frustrated with Vista that I overlook
simple solutions. I just went to HP site and found a way to scan using
Windows Paint.
