Visioneer, One Touch 5820 USB Scanner Drivers

Is there a safe driver that is compatible with this
Scanner. I had some major problems with the driver that
came with the scanner. I managed to recover my OS and
uninstall it, thank to my installed recovery console! If
there is a driver out there that will work without
corrupting my system again?, or is there a process I can
use to install the driver I have safely? Is there a
driver I can use other than this one that will let me use
the scanner through another application?, like Adobe
Photoshop, Illustrator, ect?

Visioneer wont even take the stupid thing back in trade
for another type that is more compatible!! i WILL NEVER
BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT MADE BY THEM!

Any help would be greatly appreciated
