Via unveiled their latest chipset for Athlons yesterday, the Apollo KT400A, and according to the PR, it's the fastest single-channel DDR chipset for the Athlon 3000+ (more than 10% faster than previous offerings, mostly due to what they call their FastStream64 technology).

Among the chipsets features, we note that it supports DDR running at 200-400mhz, an AGP 8X channel, USB 2.0, 6 channel sound, 10/100MBps LAN, Serial-ATA, ATA133, as well as 200-333mhz front side bus speeds.

The KT400A northbridge is connected to either the VT8237 or VT8235CE southbridge.

For the full press release, you can check it out here.

As well, you can find previews complete with benchmarks of early test samples over at HardOCP and Anandtech. As a side note, don't believe any PR junk you hear as it's outperformed by the nForce2 chipset in almost every test. However, it is early silicon and the nForce2 is already quite mature, so maybe the KT400A will catch up by the time it's released.
