Using e-mail links on webpages

B

Becky

When I click on a "send e-mail" link on a webpage I get
message "cannot perform...because default mail client is
not properly installed". I get a blank IE page and IE
locks up and then opens multiple (60+) IE blank pages.
I'm using Outlook (Office XP) and it works properly when
sending and receiving e-mail on its own and Control
Panel - Mail appears to be properly setup, as well.

Hi Becky,

Known issue, and a solution was also found. Try this first:

Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and navigate to:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto]

Use the Export option and save the branch to a REG file. Post the contents of the REG file here.

Missing [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command] sub-keys?

Choose a different mail client (say Outlook Express) from Internet Options, Programs tab. Click OK.
Repeat the procedure again and set Microsoft Outlook as the default.
