Using Access 2003 UPGRADE to upgrade Access 97

I'm wondering if I can just buy the the 2003 Access Upgrade box and use it to
upgrade my Access 97? I need to upgrade about 5 machines, and buying 5
completely brand new licenses is pretty expensive as opposed to just buying
the upgrade.

Also, I do in fact own enough legal copies of Access 97, so please don't
think I'm a pirate :) But in the long time it's been since we first got
Access 97, more than a couple of the machines have come and gone and some
have been reformated. It's possible that in my rush to get things done, I
just reached in my software closet and grabbed any Access 97 box and
installed it. So it's possible that more than one machine is running the same
version of Access 97 with the same serial number.

Access 97 never seemed to care about this, and considering I actually owned
all the legit copies, it was no skin off my back if anyone really cared to
look to see if I actually owned them. But now, if I AM able to use the
upgrade version to 2003, which does care and look for this type of thing,
will there be a problem upgrading?

Thanks

I could be wrong, but I don't believe that Access '97 is on the list of
upgradeable products listed for Access 2003. Check the specs on the box or
with Microsoft.

Do you mean can you license just _one_ copy of the Access 2003 upgrade and
use it to upgrade all 5 machines? No, the license does not cover that
(although there are some corporate licenses that might; one physical copy
plus X licenses) -- you'll need a separate update copy of Access 2003 for
each user.

If that was not the question, it's likely that one of the other responses
has already provided the answer you need.

Thanks to all who replied.

I would be buying a copy of upgrade Access 2003 for every Access 97 I need
updated. I already have someone working on converting existing DB from 97 to
03 I just need to get the rest of my machines on the same level. Thanks
again, you've saved me a bundle with this info. I would've spent almost 200$
per new License for 2003 and then another 30 or so for the media kit. Now I
can just spend about 90$ x 5 for upgrade boxes.
