USB2 Device Notification

Hello,

I've got a USB2 flash drive, and every time I plug it into my laptop,
XP brings up the "Hi-Speed Device Attached To non-Hi-Speed Hub" message
in the notification area. I know my laptop has no USB2 capability, and
I don't particularly need it to, I'd just like to get this warning to
go away before I try and kill the bottom-right hand corner of my
screen.

I'm guessing there might be something in the registry to tweak?

Thank in advance,

James Fowkes

In Fowkc <[email protected]> had this to say:

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:

This is a bit like overkill but how about this:

Disable Balloon Tips in Windows XP:
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kb...sable-Hide/DisableBalloonTipsinWindowsXP.html

Then you won't get any balloon tips (those silly things should automatically
shut off after 30 days of use because by then you have probably seen them
all) at all.

Thanks, the Microsoft page sorted it. Yes, a "don't show me this again"
box would be good, since I'd like to know about actual USB errors. I
don't consider using a 2.0 device in a 1.1 port to be an error,
personally.
