USB ports-not all work together?

Mr. RJK (Richard) made a statement on 7/18/07 in this group about front USB
ports may have a shared connection to the USB ports in the back.

"Look out for front USB ports connected to a pin header on motherboard,
which
"shares" a single USB port at the rear panel. i.e. you can't have USB
devices plugged into both at the same time."

This sounds like unfair marketing to me. How can a consumer tell that he/she
cannot use all 4 ports at the same time? Any markings or special verbiage to
watch for on the boxes?

Tks for the info.

If the system says you have 4 ports, then you can connect four devices.

I've NEVER seen a system where the mainboard headers share the rear USB
sockets.
