USB Flash Drive as a USB Token

I know there are a bunch of programs designed to allow users to use a USB
Token to prevent logons to XP machines without the Token in the USB Drive.

I have a 128mb USB Drive that I use for data xfer between computers. I was
wondering if it was possible to also use it as a security token in my laptop
so that I can't login to my Laptop without the token in. It is important
that I can also use it as a drive and that the data on it can be read by
multiple computers.

Is there any software available that would allow me to do this or is there
anyway that this is already built into XP?

Thanx

Hi,

yes it is possible, but this would prevent you from having class 4 digital
certificates issued to you.

The whole point of USB tokes (or smart cards) is that you can save the
certificate on them but you can not retrieve them (only delete). Any
information that computers needs from certificate on the token is processed
on the token (or smart card) and passed to the PC. In this case certificate
doesn't leave the token and can not be stolen over e.g. network compared to
certificates stored on HDD or USB Drive.

I hope this info. helps you at least a bit.

Well, are there any programs that'll do this? I'd be happy even if it
wasn't a class 4 digital certificate.

Thanx
