USB Device not recognized

I recently purchased a 128 mb PNY Attache 2.0 usb harddrive. I inserted it into my USB ports and the message appeared "USB does not reconize this device. Click here for more options." well i clicked on it and it brought up the Device Manager. Under the USB controllers, it says Unknown Device but there is not yellow exclamation point. I have tryed putting different usb devices into my ports and they recieve the same message. Is there a way i can fix this? Should i uninstall the drivers, and where would i find them on the Xp Cd. Would reformatting my computer do the trick?

Hmm... did you check to see if Windows Explorer sees the drive?

I saw the same thing on my XP Home SP1 system, yet Explorer saw
the it and considered it as a removable drive. I did not need to
instal any software, unless I wanted to use the USB memory stick's
encryption.

My system is a simple P4-2GHz w/1GB RAM, Windows XP Home SP1, AV,
Firewall, etc... the usual stuff.

Look up your motherboard on the web. Download and install the driver that
they suggest. Jym
