URGENT - Problem with rebooting XP Home

Cat

I've got Windows XP home edition pre installed on a new(ish))) Packard
Bell computer.

Earlier this morning I tried to install People Finder UK 2004 but ran
into problems with the installation and had to reboot my comp.

Since then Windows has stopped loaded when it gets to the "Welcome"
screen. It completely freezes up at this point, mouse pointer stops
responding and everything.

I've tried loading in safe mode and that just cuts out at the same
point. Check disk doesn't seem to help the matter and I have got work to
do on it by today (I'm on someone else's computer typing this).

My computer was pre-installled with XP and did not come with a disk,
however I was prompted to create a "Master Disk" which there are two of.
I haven't tried using these yet as I don't really know what they do.

Any advice on saving my computer, my work and my job?

Thanx in advance

C
