UPS service won't start/no UPS tab in Power Options

I can't start the "Uninterruptible Power Supply" service in XP Pro
sp2; I get:
"Could not start the Uninterruptible Power Supply service on Local
Computer. Error 2481: The UPS service is not configured correctly."


(I'm trying to start this service so the UPS tab will display in Power
Options so I can get my laptop to communicate with my APC Smart-UPS v/
s 650 on COM4 via a Keyspan USB Serial Adaptor.)

I would start by contacting APC and tell them about your problem. It may be
something minor you are overlooking or that APC uses a special adaptor.

You will need to go to their website and download their APC center, software
driver, it doesn't come with the UPS. follow the instructions for install
explicitly

thanks, but APC and I found that their software no longer supports my
model.
