Why can't I find a shread of info, even a mention in any knowledge base on

Hey, thanks.. I book marked that site, it has very useful stuff.. I got
sucked into the many advice articles that I forgot why I had visited..
Essentially, I found nothing discussing my particular situation.

Let me recalculate: I Have WIN XP HOme Edition (OEM - or preinstalled),
and I have the option to now install WIN XP Professional edition from CD....
CAN I do this as a "stand alone" upgrade? Will all my
files/settings/programs be intack if I do upgrade?

The Knowledge Base is a repository of information to aid in the
solving of problems. The routine act of upgrading WinXP Home to WinXP
Pro doesn't really fit the problem category. You'd have you answer if
you'd instead looked at the product information pages.

Upgrading to WinXP from Previous Versions of Windows

WinXP is designed to install and upgrade the existing operating
system while simultaneously preserving your applications and data, and
translating as many personalized settings as possible. The process is
designed to be, and normally is, quite painless. That said, things
can go wrong, in a small number of cases. If your data is at all
important to you, back it up before proceeding.

The upgrade from WinXP Home to WinXP Pro, in particular, almost
always goes smoothly, as both operating systems use the same kernel.
