I created a new account without authorizing any important rights such as
power user or administrator rights and set the computer to turn on
automatically without prompt any authentication. The problem is that I do not
remember the administrator password. Now, I am really in trouble. I can not
access any important programs and files that I need it for my job badly. I
tried to upgrade the computer's OS from Widows 2000 professional to windows
XP professional. However, I was not allowed to backup my files using the
CD-RW device since I do not have sufficient rights. I plan to take the
risk--- Go ahead and upgrade the computer without backing up the files. My
question is that after I upgrage my computer to Windows XP professional, do I
need the existing administror password to create new administrator accounts
or any other accounts? I do not remember the existing administrator password.
Do you have any solutions other than upgrade the OS? Thanks

Yes, you will need the credentials for an admin account. Use
this boot disk to reset the password for the administrator's
account. After you're done, create a second admin account
and lock its details away. It's the same as with your car: I'm
sure you have more than one set of keys, for obvious reasons.
