Upgrade from ME to Win 200 Pro

After running ME for a couple of years without a password
on my home computer, I decided to upgrade to Win 2000.
When the update was complete, Win 2000 asks for a username
and password. The "Cancel" option is grayed out. Leaving
both blank or using "administrator" doesn't work. How do I
access my PC?

Didn't the upgrade process ask you to set an administrator
password ??
