Updgrade to 2003 r2

Hi

we have a network infrastructure which is currently a mixture of 2004 SP4
all the way to 2003 R2 SP2 withthe PDC being 2003 server

out regional offices all have 2000 servers which are DC to allow local
authentication etc and are connected to the PDC via a VPN link

as we already ahve 2003 servers in the domian the scheme is already up to
date.

would any of you be able to advice me the best way to upgrade the 2000
servers to 2003? In place upgrade or backup data install 2003 fresh and
restore data?
