Updates fail on XP Pro after patching

After applying the latest patches for the RPC bug to my
company's XP Pro PC's - none of the computers are able to
do any further type of updates.

If you go to Microsoft's update site, select the updates
to install, click Review and install, the
download/install process begins and then ends immediately
saying that the selected updats failed to install. There
are no other messages.

After the RPC patch - I now have 17 XP Pro computers that
can not do ANY updates. Can someone please help? I have
received no answer from Microsoft to date on this issue.

2) What does your event log say?
