Update failure

I have Windows Automatic update turned off (but the service is set to
automatic, as are BITS and cryptographic: no problems usually getting windows
updates from Microsoft Updates). I therefore use the manual check for updates
in WD.

Went to check for updates, and it did find an update, but failed to install,
with the following mysterious message:

Windows defender was unable to complete the update:

0x80240022. The wrong diskette is in the drive. Insert %2 (Volume serial
number: %3) into drive %1

I then went to Office update, which offered the update, but failed to install

Definition Update 1.13.1276.3 for BETA Windows Defender (KB892519)

What should I do?

Sorry for typo. I went to Microsoft updates not office updates.

OK I used the fix

RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, follow these steps: 1. Remove the current signature
file. To do this, click Start, click Run, type Msiexec /x
{A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}, and then click OK.
2. Open Windows Defender. To do this, click Start, click Programs, and then
click Windows Defender.
3. Check for new definitions. To do this, click the Help options arrow next
to the Windows Defender Help icon, click About Windows Defender, and then
click Check for Updates.

Now manual updates found and installed the update.

I hope I don't have to do that each time there isan update

My Update error was 0x8024002b "Windows defender was unable to complete the
update".
This "workaround" seems not to work for this error.
Any other ideas?

HI I hope this will help you ... you need to go to windows update if you
have windows Xp or windows 2000

My system is up to date by windows update but I still get the error.

This definately works. I am rapped. However for people that are having
problems doing this here is the correct way:1. Remove the current signature

file. To do this, click Start, click Run, type Msiexec /x
{A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}, and then click OK.

It may come up with disc not available. If this happens click on browse,go
to my computor then c: drive and program files, look for the folder windows
defender, click on it and then press ok and walla your done.
