UnZip 5.51 - Unpacks .zip archives

UnZip 5.51 - Unpacks .zip archives such as those made by PKZIP.

About:
UnZip will list, test, or extract files from a ZIP archive, commonly found
on DOS and Windows systems. A companion program, Zip, creates ZIP
archives. Both programs are compatible with archives created by PKWARE's
PKZIP or Nico Mak's WinZip, but in many cases the program options or
default behaviors differ.

Changes:
This is primarily a security-fix release, correcting a textmode
data-corruption bug in 16-bit ports and several directory-traversal flaws
(involving invalid filename characters, quoted characters, symlink
traversal, and local/central-directory filename mismatches). It also adds
support for restoring directory timestamps under Windows.

Release focus: Major security fixes
License: BSD License (revised)
Project URL: http://freshmeat.net/projects/unzip/

Tar/GZ: http://freshmeat.net/redir/unzip/10967/url_tgz/unzip551.tar.gz
Zip: http://freshmeat.net/redir/unzip/10967/url_zip/unzip551.zip

UnZip 5.51 - Unpacks .zip archives such as those made by PKZIP.

By coincidence, I ran across this program earlier this evening, but
the only MSDOS binaries I could find were still version 5.50. The
Info-ZIP home page mentioned that it could be some time before
compilations for all OSes were complete.

Your freshmeat link below isn't very explicit on the OS aspect and I
*presume* it's one of the Unix/Linux compilations?

The win32 precompiled version has been released. Get it
(unz551xN.exe) for example from

<ftp://ftp.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/WIN32/>.

The file unz551xN.exe is a self-extracting archive. Execute it in an
empty dir, and then move unzip.exe, unzipsfx.exe and funzip.exe to a dir
on your path. The rest of the extracted files are the documentation as
well as the dll for use in GUI programming.

Thanks for that, Luigi. I clearly didn't read far enough down the FTP
menu last night -- I stopped at MSDOS because that's where I
understood the web page had told me to find ZIP and UNZIP.
(Incidentally, the README at ~/WIN32 hasn't yet been updated to
include mention of version 5.51.)
