Unprintable Character in Folder Name Keeps Folder from Opening

First check to make sure there is data in the directory.
Reboot your computer then try to open the folder again.
If that doesn't work go to start, choose run, type cmd in
the run box and hit enter, type "chkdsk ?:" where ? is the
drive with the data on it.

Jonathan,

Thanks for the response. I ran chkdsk, which said it was
running in read-only mode, because the "F parameter"
wasn't specified. Chkdsk found the corrupted folder name
in an index, but then said it couldn't continue in read-
only mode. Is the "F parameter" a flag to let it fix the
error when it finds it?

Thanks,
Brooks
