unmountable boot error...NEED HELP!!

Hi...I NEED HELP!!!

I have encountered an unmountable boot error message.
Everytime I try to start my computer this blue message
screen appears regardless of what I try.

I recently came across an article that suggested pressing
the F12 key to get to a menu containing three items, one
of which would be the "recover your OS" option that the
column then instructed to select. At this point i should
get a prompt to type in "CHKDSK/F" to get back into
windows. The only problem is that when i press F12 I do
not get this menu, but rather get a menu giving me reboot
options including internal HD or Cd/DVD reboot- all of
which still return me to the :-( evil blue screen.

Is there another way to get to the Windows Recovery
Console Utility? Please let me know if possible. I have
been staring at this taunting blue screen for almost 2
weeks now...and want my XP back asap!!

Thanks soo much!!!
Ashley:)

I tried to repair from the XP CD-ROM and I still get the
BSOD and auto reboot. I have another drive that I set up
and I'm running OK. But I also want my old OS for E-mails
and Favorites!
I isolated the bad driver that started this problem. I
even repeated the loading of the driver to this BSOD(blue
sceeen of death) and Auto Redoot.

XP seems unrecoverable and all I did was load a current
driver!

You can get favourites and emails back without fixing the
old install.
Connect the old drive as secondary or with external box.
You'll probably find what you want in root\documents and
settings\yourloginname\
Search is easiest. Copy your favourites to current
favourites folder.
Email Microsoft outlook..... the pst file is what u
want. copy it to the boot drive and then add it to
outlook (tools services or options)
Outlook express. Use import from within the program.
While you are there delete the offending driver, might
fix the original problem
