"unable to make 'backup.pst' available offline'

YoJa

One user is getting the following message when shutting down his pc.

"Office Files[\\Server\users on Server]: Unable to make 'backup.pst'
available offline on \\server\users\username. Files of this type cannot be
made available ofline."

"warnings occured while windows was synchronizing your data"

What could the problem be?

Well the problem is, as in the error message. pst files are not normally
synchronised by Offline files.
There is a workaround, but from personal experience, using a pst file in
offline files is the quickest and most frequent way to a corrupted pst file.

OK, the files don't need to be synchronized. Where would the user have set
that?

Well I presume he's put a pst file in a folder that is used as a remote data
storage, and marked it for offline use.

I'm not really familiar with this. Can you give me more details as to what I
should be looking for on his computer?

Look at the properties of the file "backup.pst". Firstly it's location will
be on a network drive, and It should say, (AFAIR) that it has been made
available for offline use.
