Unable to display the folder in Outlook 2007

G

Guest

I am using Outlook 2007 and when I click to open any of the folders in my
Messages , such as Inbox, I get "Cannot display the folder. Microsoft Office
Outlook cannot access the specified folder location.". I tried to restore
defaults in the Outlook Today Personal folders properties, and I obtain the
same error message.

How can I fix this probelm?

Many Thanks
John

Have you already tried creating a new profile via Control Panel, Mail?

Hello all!

I'm experiencing the same problem but the posted solutions aren't helping
me. I am running XP and Outlook 2007. I have reinstalled several times and
have tried deleting old folders that might be corrupted but still no joy. Any
other ideas I might take a look at? When I click directly on each of the mail
folders they work fine, but not so when I click on the folders from the
personal folders - Outlook today window.

Thanks, Greg

I'm getting the problem on two of my pc's runing XP. One of them has the
office 2007 and the other has the office 2003. I get the same errors on both
versions of outlook. I wonder if one of the recent(past 3 weeks) windows
updates has caused the problem? I only noticed that past week.

Ok,
I can see what's going on. The address to the link on the Outlook Today
page goes to "outlook:/./\Profile\Calendar" when it should go to
"outlook://\Profile\Calendar".
There is a period that doesn't belong "/./" Hopefully someone here can
figure this one out. In the adress bar, if I remove the "." it brings the
Calander up. But I can't access it through the Outlook Today home page.

Edit the registry entry that contains that bad link.

Thanks Brian,

Ok, the page had not given any instructions on my problem but provided me
with some direction on how to fix the problem. The fix I've done works until
you decide to make changes to the home page which reverses all that you have
just changed. It's more of a bandage solution for now at lease. See below:
Registry Key examples:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Today\Folders]
"0"="\\Glears's Profile\\Contacts"
"1"="\\Hotmail\\Inbox"
"2"="\\Hotmail\\Junk E-Mail"
"3"="\\Glears's Profile\\Outbox"
"4"="\\Glears's Profile\\Calendar"

Values changed too:
"0"="\Glears's Profile\\Contacts"
"1"="\Hotmail\\Inbox"
"2"="\Hotmail\\Junk E-Mail"
"3"="\Glears's Profile\\Outbox"
"4"="\Glears's Profile\\Calendar"

As you can see removing one of the backslashes to each value corrected the
problem. I tried to remove my original "." in binary mode since it actually
appears there but that kept on failing. The "." might really belong and the
issue would be that there is an extra "/" like "/./\" which should be "/.\"
Maybe microsoft will see this post and come up with a permanent solution.

All my entries have the form \\datastore\folder; i.e., two slashes to start
and one later. Exporting them shows all slashes doubled:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Today\Folders]
"0"="\\\\Mailbox Name\\Inbox"
"1"="\\\\Mailbox Name\\Junk E-mail"

I have Outlook 2003 and I'm getting the same error message. I checked out
what it says in the registry. Here's what I have:
0=\\Personal Folders\Inbox
1=\\Personal Folders\Drafts
Yet, when I click on these links in Outlook Today, it says that Outlook
could not find the folder ... what is wrong?

Does the PST "Personal Folders" exist?

That's what the root folder for my Outlook 2003 is called, yes. In a similar
thread, another user said that this problem came up after he installed IE 7
beta 3. It occurred to me that the same has happened to me.

So do you have IE7 installed? Have you uninstalled it to see it that
affected the problem?
