Unable to delete sub-directories of mount point

Hello,

I have a single scsi drive configured as a dynamic disk on Windows
2000 pro (sp4). The drive contains two simple volumes. First volume is
drive c, the second volume is mounted as a directory called
"c:\storage".

I am unable to delete any directories located in the second volume
(eg, c:\storage\foo\) through windows explorer or the command line.
When attempting to delete a directory, I am told that access is denied
the directory is in use. Permissions are set to "everyone", can't even
delete as administrator. I assume this has to do with the fact that
the volume is mounted as a directory? If so, is this by design? If so,
why? If not, what might be causing the problem? I'm assuming that
unmounting the volume would allow me to delete the directories but
since a) I have nearly all of my programs installed to that location
and b) the notion of having to unmount a volume to delete directories
seems asinine, I'm somewhat hesitant to try it.

This is the first time I've attattempted use mount points under
Windows 2000. I have been unable to find an answer to this problem
using google or technet. If you have any suggestions I would
appreciate hearing them.

Note - I'm having this problem with *all* sub-directories of
"c:\storage" - regardless of whether they're empty or not.

Thanks!

I have found the same and to get around this I
created a drive letter for the second volume.
Accessing this volume via the drive letter will
permit such deletions. Kinda defeats the point for
Mount Points, though, doesn't it?

Yes, it does defeat the purpose! I had hoped that this would work
basically like a mount on a Unix box. You may mount an entire
physical disk to a mount point but it is totally transparent to the
user. Another thing I found, which I hadn't thought of trying before
I posted, was moving the directories. I can move a directory from
c:\storage\ to c:\ & then can delete it from there. That works. So I
can create a sub-directory in c:\storage\, re-name it and move it...
but I can't delete it? I'd love to find out why!

Thanks for the reply.
