Unable to CD or DVD Drives WIthout Locking Up XP

Running XP sp 1, and have two CD drives. Windows
explorer recongizes both drives, however when I attempt
to view any files in either drive, XP locks up, forcing
me to manually shut it down. Drives use to work just
fine.

First thought was a virus, however I have run two anti-
virus tools and found no virus.

Second thought was somehow the drivers for both CD drives
got corrupted...how I don't know. Thought about trying
to reload the drivers, but felt this was just a bandaid
to a bigger problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any CD writing software installed on your system and was this
the same software you ran prior to SP1? If yes, have you checked the
product CD burning software's website for updates and/or updated versions?
