Hi

I have SP2 installed on a dialup laptop and do not want Automatic Updates
turned on.
How do I stop the "bubble"on the task bar coming up to remind me
to turn it?

Control Panel/Security Center, click on the "Change the Way
Security Center Notifies Me" link in the left pane.

Automatic Updates will not interfere with your internet access even over a
phone. It uses bandwidth that would otherwise not be used at all; it can
download little bits & pieces of updates until it has the whole file. It
should work fine over dial up.
