Trojan Gema-vidcompat.exe

I had a virus on my computer (Trojan Gema-vidcompat.exe). I downloaded the new virus definitions from symantec and ran my virus scan but the vidcompat.exe virus is still in my pc. Does anyone know what this was or what this did? Is there any way to get rid of the virus since i have followed the removal instructions given by Symantec but seems it is not working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For your information I have followed the removal instructions
(http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.gema.htm) but it still there whenever i start-up my windows XP.

Please anyone advise...
