TransferSpreadsheet Error 3274

I am trying to import data from an Excel 2002 spreadsheet into an Access 2002
database but recieve the following error - "external table is not in the
expected format. 3274".

Some files import with out a problem but others give me the error. All
files were created from the same template. If anyone shed some light on what
could be causing this I would greatly appreciate it. I have spent hours
trying to resolve the problem.

Did a quick search on Microsoft's Knowledge Base and found the following
articles (one may apply to your situation):

Also, there have been posts in the past about this type of
error....uninstalling and reinstalling Office has sometimes fixed them.
Problem may be with the MSEXCLxx.dll driver file.

Ken,

Thanks for the reply. I had already looked at these articles. The only
thing I can conclude is that the original file may have been created under
Office 97. If the file is left open it will import but my code is set to
move the file to another folder upon competion of the import. Leaving the
file open generates an error in the application.

I feel like I am chasing my tail.

If this is correct, try saving a new copy of the file as 2002 format. Or
create a new file and copy the data from one spreadsheet into the new file.
Maybe a "freshly" created file will fix the problem?
