This from Anne Bentley, Vice President of Communications, America Online.

"There will be a new version of the Netscape browser coming early
summer".

AOL, today, has confirmed what has been widely speculated in other media for a little more than a week.

The new release of Netscape could well be as early as April 15th, and should Mozilla 1.7 be released tomorrow, April 2nd, as it has also been suggested, then there is a good likelihood of that mid-April release of Netscape.

This is good news for everyone, whether they support Netscape and Mozilla, and the entire OpenSource initiative, or not.

Internet Explorer, as everyone here well knows, needs to be radically fixed, and perhaps a further release of the venerable Netscape Web-browser Suite will be the impetus for Microsoft's doing so.

You would be much better off simply downloading Mozilla or
the Mozilla FireFox/Thunderbird tandem. Now that AOL has
had their filthy hands all over it, I wouldn't touch Netscape
with a ten foot pole.
