Taskbar won't stay the same size from one session to next

Ever since I installed XP about a year ago on my Sony PCG-FXA49 laptop, the taskbar keeps defaulting to about one icon width (I keep it on the left of the screen.) Every time I start Windows, I resize it so that it displays two shortcut icons side by side.

Can someone tell me how I can get the thing to stay the same all the time except when I decide to change it?

Thanks,
PB

No, This doesn't solve the problem. The taskbar stays locked in the next session, however the size changes back to 1 icon wide.

PB;
I have XP Home. Do you have XP Pro?
With Pro, you can use gpedit to change all kinds of settings.
Maybe there's something in there?
---
Local Group Policy Editor, or gpedit for short. To invoke this editor, select
Start and then Run, then type the following:
gpedit.msc

After you hit ENTER, you'll be greeted by gpedit, which lets you modify
virtually every feature in Windows XP without having to resort to regedit.
=========
The only thing I can think of is:
Start | Run | Type: regedit | OK

Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Name: TaskbarSizeMove
Type: REG_DWORD
Data: 0x0000000 (0)

Make sure that the Value Data is set to: 0 (Zero)
0 = Taskbar locked.
1 = Taskbar not locked.
