Taskbar notification: how to reverse icon layout?

    Hello,

I am not sure if this feature can be tweaked by Windows XP Professional, or
by the application that I am using (Techsuperior's MultiDesk virtual deskop).

One my laptop the taskbar notification area displays my 4 virtual deskop icons
numbered 1-4 from left-to-right, whereas my other PC displays them in the reverse
order, from right-to-left. Both are running Windows XP Professional.

Does anyone know how to tweak the registry to reverse the icon layout? The
MultiDesk app does not have any options to change this, and I assume that it is
a Windows tweak since Windows displays the icon layout differently on two
    computers.

This is causing minor pain since I use the arrow keyboard shortcuts to switch
between the 4 virtual desktops, but it is visually confusing to click on the
CTRL-right arrow key and expect the desktop to the right to be next, but
instead it goes to the left.

    Any tips would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -Win

I don't know of any utility that will let you change the order of icon
display on the Taskbar/Toolbar area, but I have a naively simple question:
Why not dump the third party app and go for the Microsoft PowertoysXP tool
called Deskman? It provides multiple virtual desktops and is likely to be a
better choice. It's free, so why not give it a try?

thanks for the tip. I'll try out the Deskman tool since I have not heard
of it yet. I've been using MultiDesk because it is free also!

    Cheers,

    Hi,
try use Enterra Icon Keeper Deluxe.
works great and seems to be very fast.
The main feature of IK Deluxe is an easy creation and change of
desktop profiles. Sets of displayed layouts of icons, their position
on the desktop are profiled. Functionality is built into the desktop
context menu. Moreover, the utility does not load CPU and Memory, thus
remaining 100% available from the context menu - any action is a
matter of a mouse click including the profile change. This is the main
function of the program - to reduce time spent by the user on
reoccurring activity. Having a big number of installed applications at
a PC it is problematic to find the appropriate application via the
"Program Menu", and the desktop is turned into impenetrable jungle.
