Task Manager

Just installed Windows 2k and noticed several
differences. First off startup was kind of slow (all of
the programs self-loading themselves). In previous
versions of Windows, you could go to "msconfig" and
prevent them from self-starting. I tried that, but it
says "cannot find." Also, the Task Manager is quite
different here. Previously only "systray" and "explorer"
were the only required processes (or so I was told); I
have thirty-two (32) running now. Which can I delete?

There is no msconfig in W2K. Here is a utility that serves a similar
purpose
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

There are a number of services that can be disabled. A search on
"hardening W2K" should give results.

This is a bad time to start a new W2K machine unless it is already
fully patched. The Blaster worm, exploiting a W2K buffer
vulnerability is infecting machines. See

You can also use the msconfig file from Windows XP. It works in W2k.
Why MS skipped msconfig in W2k only Billy knows.
