System Volume Information

I'm not sure how it happened, but I now have a folder
called "System Volume Information" contained within
C:\Scratch\Temp\. I am unable to delete the directory or
change any of its attributes. The OS returns "Access
Denied".

How do I get rid of it?

Is there also a folder with the same name in the root? There should be
one such folder on each NTFS-formatted logical drive. These folder will
have the System and Hidden attributes and are typically set up so that no
user has access to them.

If this is truly a redundant copy, you can delete it by first giving
yourself full control of the folder. Right-click on the folder, select
Properties, Security tab, Add.
