system restore unsuccessful

I am attempting to do a system restore, but every time I
do it, it fails. I have tried multiple dates. I have
only used about 12GB of my 80GB hard drive, and in System
Properties, the disk space usage is set to max in the
System Restore tab. How can I achieve a successful
system restore?
