System Restore issue - SR wont restore to prior date

My computer crashed during the install of a Inventor 10. The install disk
wont let me install again because it thinks the program is installed
already.I cant uninstall because it does not show up in the "add/remove"
preference like it should due to crash. There are traces of the install in
the registry and programs folder.

So I figure the quickest way to solve is to restore to a point I set a few
days before the install. When I select the restore point it restarts and then
tells me it could not restore. The install of the programs show up on the
calendar of the SR so I know it realizes something was installed. It
installed 2 programs, Inventor and Microsoft WSE 2.0 Runtime.

What can I do???

Try a couple restore points prior to the ones you have already tried.

Let's also take a look at Event Viewer for any System Restore logs that
may have been created recently that may help us diagnosing the problem.

Go to Start - Run and type eventvwr.msc and press enter.
Click on System in the left pane.
Click the gray title "Source" at the top of the source name column in
the right pane to sort by source name, look for "sr" and "srservice".
Double click on each of these events, then click on the button below the
two arrows in the upper right corner. This will copy the event
information to the clipboard. Paste the information for each of the two
event here. There's no need to post duplicate Event ID's.

How do I use the Event Viewer to search for System Restore logs?
