I recently received my laptop back from being given a new power module. Now when I start it up it trys to resume windows (as the resuming windows loading bar appears and takes ages), I can only imagine it wasnt shut down properly at some point before i received it back. After this has loaded I get to the loading screen for Windows XP and after the same amount of time loading each time i start it up (whether its in safe mode or normal) I get the blue screen error message stating the problem:
UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME

***STOP 0x000000ED (0x82F18A88, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Im not sure whether this problem is fixable with reboot using the disk or any other way or if in fact this is physical damage to the memory?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have only had it back for under 24hours. I havnt yet as I dont trust them to not rip me off if it is a problem they have created when they were replacing the module. My housemate has tried to reboot from the windows disk and is now trying to save all my files before we try reformatting. Do you think this is the correct thing to do, and have you seen this message/situation before?

The thing is if they have caused the problem they are resposible so any changes u make without informing them first could cause you to lose the right to claim from them.

It is a common problem caused by many things

Heres some links for u to look at take particular notice of the first one
And good luck let us know how u get on

I had the same problem, but on my PC. I fixed it by replacing the hard drive with another one. Try this, if it fails, check and replace your IDE cables. Hope i helped abit. Bye
