Stop Error in Safe Mode, none normally

I'm trying to start up w2k pro in safe mode to deal with a
sound card reinstallation problem. It boots normally
despite not booting in Safe Mode.

The Stop error is 0x000000B4 which indicates the video
failed to initialize. According to the knowledge base,
this is because of a hardware conflict between the video
and the parallel port address. To correct the knowledge
base article says you change the parallel port address to
0378. But that is what it is set to in the BIOS and in
the hardware device settings.

Before I get the Stop error, a list of drivers being
loaded appears. It stops at Iomega drivers just after
PPA3.sys or something of the sort. I have a legacy 100mb
zip drive installed off the parallel port as well as the
printer. Could this be interfering?

I'm running a P4P800 ASUS motherboard with an Intel P4
2.8Ghx and 1Gb or RAM. The video is an ATI 9800 card in
the AGP slot.

What happens if you disconnect the ZIP drive?

May want to also set the Iomega parallel port driver to disabled.
