It won't install from an XP CD into Vista, if that is what you mean. Some
editions of Vista have their own version of SS.

Hi,

Did you ever get an answer for your question? I absolutely HATE the regular
solitaire in Vista. I used to be an avid player in XP and now you can only
win about 15% of the time in Vista.

Me too, deaden, but when the screen comes up to "quit", it gives you the
option to continue playing, I think?

Anyway, I learned a lesson. Because of the low rate of "wins" on regular
solitaire with Vista, I found out how to download the old solitaire from XP.
I sure missed winning, but I forgot how the old version has no preferences to
re-set how large the cards are, how the cards stack against each other so you
can barely see what's behind them. There's also no sound or "hint" with the
old one.

<sigh> I guess I'll keep losing games on the Vista set-up. I have talked to
several people online and read tons'o'threads involving not being able to
ever get past about 15% in their statistics.

Thanks for replying.

Sarah,

I find this really interesting, having only discovered Spider Solitare on
Vista. I have an old XP machine, think I will pull the sol.exe off of it and
run some subjective tests. Currently I am at 34% wins out of 135 games
played on intermediate level. I have never even come close on advanced
level...sigh.... though right now I am hooked on peggle instead

WOW! 34% is awesome on Vista, Mark, especially on intermediate. I was told
you can take almost all of the games from XP and they will run on Vista. The
only problem is: I was successful with the "regular" Solitaire when I got it
from XP, but, of course, the graphics suck! :)

I forgot how small the cards were, no graphics, no sound... etc. It sure
runs fast though.. LOL!

Have a great day and "happy solitairing"
