Specified service does not exist

I normally use DSL, but maintain a 56K modem as backup and for Faxes. I
recently upgraded from XP Home to XP Pro. Now windows will not install my
modem. It was working fine in XP Home.

I have tried internal and external modems, know to be good, but windows will
not load drivers. I get the message "The specified service does not exist
as an installed service".

Telephony Service is running, Remote Access Connection Manager is running.
I have tried deleting folders 25 and 26 as per the Microsoft Knowledge Base
Article 822122. Nothing works.

Can someone please help me get my Dial Up Modem back into service?

I solved this problem by reinstalling XP Pro over the existing system. It
worked!.
