SP 2: Local Area Connection sending out billions of packets?

S

SA

Hi all,

Installed SP 2 on a Compaq TC1000 Tablet PC. No real problems, but when I
open the properties of my Local Area Connection, I see that the Sent packets
count reaches ridiculous numbers, like several billions (250,000,000,000 and
up) within a few seconds of connecting?

What's up with that? It's physically impossible to send out billions of
packets in a few seconds, so there must be some bug there?

(The system does seem to be sending packets, seeing from the activity on my
switch.)

I also have ZoneAlarm running.

sa,

if zonealarm is not reporting anything, then there is less likely anything
to worry about.

sent data from your computer may also mean data that has been requested by
other computers from yours. it does not mean that your computer has been
pushing data out.

hope this helps.

Dennis,

I wasn't worried anything was running on the machine (I am fairly certain
it's free of spyware etc.)

What I don't understand is the reason for that packet count: it is
impossible. That packet count is incorrect. Also, the Received packet count
reports normal numbers.
