Sounds control panel disables USB

A strange problem, I'm wondering if anyone else has come across anything
similar. If we set the sound set on our image to 'no sounds' then on the
next reboot the USB stops working. If we then set it to the windows
default and reboot, the USB will start working again.

I have not seen this, but it is interesting. What chipset are you using?
I've just had an email from the supplier that informs me that if I take
out the driver they supplied me for the PCI to USB Open Host Controller
and use the Standard Enhanced it should work. I'm just doing a build to
determine if that is the case.

My guess is that it was a driver issue. Of course which driver is always fun
to diagnose. Good luck.

The supplier was nearly right. It was the PCI to USB Enchanced Host
Controller that was causing the problem. It all seems to work OK without
it, aside from the ! in device manager. This is making me very
suspicious of the quality of this kit.

Perhaps, but not here. ;) It works on an SP1 Pro, and doesn't work on an
SP2 XPe. Whether it's the SP version or the Pro/XPe side of things
remains to be seen.
