I saw in another post the Papajohn uses Sonic My dvd program. I purchased this program since it wa
recommended with software I got when I purchased Hitachi dvd camcorder. I see that it is very compatible with MM
Is there a site I can go to to get manual or tips on how to use Sonic my dvd in conjuction with mm2. Thanks

I wrote and illustrated things in my 'Do Amazing Things' book about Movie
Maker 2 using MyDVD... so the notes and pictures on pages 151-156 use MyDVD.

It's just a few pages of the book, so you can just skim them in a bookstore
without having to buy it..... but if you want to order a copy, use a link on
my website.

Thanks much Papajohn as usual you are super helpful. But I am still frustrated with MM2
as per my "erratic" post. thanks again..I'll check it out..

I haven't touched a camcorder that records on a disc in an MPEG format.
preferring to stay with DV-AVI formats.... MPEG2 is hard enough to deal
with, nevermind starting with a camcorder disc.

My understanding of such camcorders are that they are intended for those
interested in shooting and playing back on their DVD player, not in doing
digital non-linear editing.

But MyDVD might come in handy.... see the Importing Source Files > Video >
Recorded TV for some notes about how I've been using it to get footage from
my Hi8 camcorder to MM2 via the TV tuner in my laptop... MyDVD works
seamlessly with MPEG2 files from recorded TV, with DV-AVI and with WMV
files, so you might have great luck using it with your camcorder.... maybe
after capturing with the software Hitachi gave you.

Good luck with it all. Let us know how it works out. I'm leaving your other
post for those who have your camcorder.

PS

MyDVD works fine for me going down the path from MM2 to a DVD.

But coming back that path from my recorded TV files, I've had to go via
TMPGEnc to successfully get the MPEG2 files converted to AVI and then used
in MM2.
