Some controls can't be activated

I get the following message when reading some powerpoint
files

'Some controls on this presentation can't be activated.
They might not be retistered on this computer'

any ideas why?

The presentation probably uses one or more ActiveX controls that aren't
installed on your system. You may need to query the creator to find out
what controls they used that you don't have installed.

There are probably Active-X controls (list boxes, flash controls or the like)
on the slide; they may be controls that aren't included in PPT, so aren't
installed on your computer, perhaps.

Does this prevent you from viewing the presentation?

It doesnt prevent me from vieweing the ppt, but some of
the pics dont show up ....

Are these PPTs that you created yourself or that you got from somebody else?
Either way, it might be worth finding out how the pictures were added, and if
they were added in some way other than via Insert, Picture, From File, why.

they are files i received from an outside source...I will
try to track down how these pics were added...
