SMTP failure

I cannot get my email to lot into my outgoing mail server. I know the
settings are correct, because I use the exact same settings on my work laptop
and they work correctly. At home, I get a connect failure every time. I have
changed network settings, firewall settings and am soooo frustrated! Any
suggestions?

Go into the command prompt.

Type "Telnet <mailservername> 25" (without the quotes)

Does it connect up?

If so, it's a configuration problem with your mail client.

If it doesn't, it's a firewall/network issue.

Some ISP's block SMTP port 25 except to their own e-mail systems. Bellsouth
and Comcast are just a few of the many examples. You just have to point
your SMTP server in your mail client (from your home) to use the ISP's SMTP
server. Depending on who provides your home broadband, this may or may not
be the issue though. Just a though...

Cheers!
