SMTP eMail not delivered to Outlook after being delivered to SmartPhone

Shawn

I have an SMTP mailbox called (e-mail address removed).

I have Outlook XP running on my desktop. It checks for mail on this server
every 60 seconds. It is setup to leave a copy of the message on the server
for 10 days. Other than this issue, it works fine.

I also have a Windows SmartPhone (Windows Mobile 5.0). The SmartPhone checks
the same email account evrery 15 minutes. Other than this issue, it also
works fine.

Here's the problem: If Outlooks checks the message FIRST, there is no
problem. However, if the phone checks for message first, then the message
goes to the phone, but never gets delivered to Outlook. However, I see that
a copy is still on the server.

So, my question is how can I ensure that my Outlook and my SmartPhone ALWAYS
BOTH get the message?

Thanks,

- S

SMTP is a "send only" mail server type and does not have "mailboxes"
although it may require authentication...

can you confirm that you mean smtp and not another email account such as
pop3?

If you are not sure, take a look at http://BevHoward.com/bhhpj.htm#SMTP
for more information.

then the message goes to the phone, but never gets delivered to
Outlook <<

I would suspect that it's an outlook on the pc setting... incoming
messages contain a flag that indicates if the message has been read, so,
would check that outlook shows _all_ messages and not just the unread ones.

There may be other outlook settings such as "download only unread/new
message" but can't help as I am not an outlook user.

To my knowledge, that is not an option in Outlook.

Sorry, but I don't have any other ideas other than setting up a
different email client on a pc and seeing if they are visible using that.
