Slow Reports Access 07

My Access 2007 reports suddenly started to take a LONG time to open. I
thought it was something in the database I had changed (adding a table). I
then suspected the computer and went through defrag, error checking, virus
checking, etc.

Now I find it is just all reports, in all databases -- even the
"SampleStudents.accdb" supplied by Microsoft. Everything else seems to work
fine, tables, queries, and forms, all open in an instant. However, ANY form
takes at least 20 seconds.

I suppose I can try reloading the program. However, I thought I would ask
for ideas and experiences.

I appreciate all sincere replies.
Thanks

After unplugging your internet connection, disable virus checker and open
some forms. If that makes a positive difference, you may want to exclude
scanning of .accdb files.

Don't forget to turn the virus checker back on!

That did it --Surprised me. Thanks Jerry!

I was using the AVG free anti-virus program. Think I will try some other
program.

Thanks again,

Same problem reoccurred after installing a new anti-virus program.

I changed programs from AVG-Free to McAfee and the problem still exists.
Turning off "heuristics" scanning, in McAfee did not help. I find no method
in either AVG or McAfee to have it ignore the ".accdb" file extension.

Also, I find if I disconnect the DSL cable, even with the antivirus program
on. The reports will open normally/quickly. -- weird! (but that’s computers
-- hey?)

I did not have this problem a week or so ago. So, I am wondering if there
may have been a Microsoft Office update that affected it -- or ??

Anyone else have this problem ? -- or have an opinion of the cause / fix?

Thanks
Ron
